The latest Cleanup Plugin (CleanUp³ by thomthom) is V3.4.6, released February 2024. The main feature of the Cleanup Plugin is to clean the SketchUp file by deleting hidden or unused objects and merging redundant geometry. The plugin is easy to use: you install it as usual, set it up once, and next time use it with just one click.
General information:
- Latest version: V3.4.6 (Feb 2024)
- Author: thomthom
- Compatible with SketchUp 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 (Windows and Mac).
- CleanUp³ will not load unless its companion library TT_Lib² is also installed — it is a required dependency, not bundled inside the plugin. If the toolbar never appears after install, an outdated or missing TT_Lib² is almost always the reason.
Main feature:
- Delete hidden objects contained in the file
- Delete unused objects: Components, Materials, Layers (Tags), Styles
- Delete extra edges located on the same plane, and merge coplanar faces.
- The most valuable cleanup is “Merge Faces”: it collapses hundreds of unnecessarily subdivided coplanar triangles back into single clean surfaces, which is what actually shrinks file size and triangle count — far more than deleting unused materials.
When to use the Cleanup Plugin:
- When you use Dynamic Sketchup models that need a lot of customization and have many hidden objects, when you finish drawing you need to use Cleanup to clean the file.
- When you use nesting plugins like ABF or OpenCutList, run Cleanup before generating statistics so that redundant objects do not inflate the count.
- Since version 3.3, CleanUp³ respects locked geometry — it skips locked groups/components instead of failing. Lock anything you want protected before running an aggressive cleanup, and run it inside a group/component context to limit it to the geometry you actually selected.
Guide:
You just need to set up as shown below to delete unnecessary objects.
