The most effective ways to design countertop in Sketchup

Kitchen countertops Dynamic Sketchup includes countertop with cooktop, with sink and clean surfaces. The models can resize without change appliance size. Cooktop, sinks and faucets can be replaced quickly. This is most effective way to design countertop in Sketchup. All models are free and have been in 3dshouse plugin.

These work because each appliance is a sub-component whose dimensions are constrained relative to the parent. When you stretch the countertop with the Scale tool, only the worktop surface grows — the cooktop, sink and faucet keep their real-world size and simply re-position, because their LenX/LenY are pinned and not driven by the parent’s scale. That is the difference between these models and a plain group, where scaling would distort every appliance into the wrong proportions.

One thing worth knowing before you download: the parametric resize and the replace/options panel only run in SketchUp Pro — the free web version can open and scale the component but cannot open Component Options or Component Attributes, so the “resize without changing the appliance” behavior and the dropdowns to swap a sink or cooktop will not appear there. Interacting still works, but the configurability needs Pro. Note also that since 2020 SketchUp Pro is a named-user subscription (no perpetual license); the current line is SketchUp 2026, and the Dynamic Components engine that powers these models ships with every Pro release.

Feature:

  • Replace countertop equipment.
  • Adjust length, depth and thickness.
  • Hide appliances.
  • Adjust appliance position.
  • Center or left-align the device.
  • Equipment size.
  • The size of the cut shape of countertop.
  • The number and width of the support bars.

The model ensures full specifications for the technical deployment drawing. Because the sink and cooktop cut-outs are driven by the same options, the hole in the worktop stays aligned to the appliance even after you resize or re-position it — so the section and plan views you pull off the model are construction-accurate, not just a visual mock-up.
